Yule / Winter Solstice

(December 21st)

Yule gives us the oppurtunity to reflect upon the ancient Welsh myth of Bran the Blessed. Winter Solstice is a time of balance and change. On Yule the Sun is at its most southeastern point over the Tropic of Capricorn in the nothern hemisphere and has no apparent nothward or southward motion. It marks hte longest night and the shortest day of the year. Form this point on , the Sun rises earlier and earlier each time adding a little more light and warmth to the cold and silent days of Winter.

On this day we honor the Goddess, Mother Earth , for giving birth to the Sun once more, as She displays the light within Her womb during the darkest time of the year (from Samhain to Yule), so does She create the light at Winter Solstice.
