Rumor has it that for Elliott's summer tour he is billing himself as "The Elliott Smith Project" -- and is being backed by members of the Portland,Oregon band Quasi which is composed of female drummer extrordinaire - Janet Weiss who also hits it for SLeater-Kinney. and Sam Coomes - X bassist for the now defunct Heatmiser - and get this - ex-husband of Janet Weiss -- talk about a reunion. I have been told that elliott is releasing a new 7" soon with e.s.p. They re-did 'Division Day' and some other stuff. This should be quite an experience.
---------------->>> Also coming down the Elliott superhighway is news that the may not be signing with Virgin after all..who knows...like he ever really was goin' big time....he already is. You probably all know already but Elliott debuted on national televison as he guest hosted a block of M2 with kojak music guru Matt Pinfield (also of 120 min.) I acquired a list of the video set Elliott chose to program and hope to have it posted soon. For a time M2, MTV's sister channel was playing the "comin' up roses" video quite heavily..

I believe he spent some time in NYC and then went back to the infamously sonic northwest to play the super indie kool "YO YO A GO-GO fest" with Built to Spill and Modest Mouse..I believe to this day he is still there. Us east coasters will have to keep our fingers crossed.
